2005
In 2005 rating of activity of the oil and gas companies of Russia conducted by leading Russian experts and analysts and assisted by Oil & Gas Vertical, RussNeft strengthened its position as one of the five leaders of the home fuel and energy sector.
In the opinion of oil and gas analysts of Russia, who worthily appreciated the weighed development policy and the speed with which administrative decisions were taken, RussNeft ‘last year’s shift to the fourth place was not groundless’; it was a logic result of the hard and painstaking work done by the company.
Analysts about RussNeft (2005)
Andrey Êinyakin, an expert of the economic ahalytics service at IA Finmarket:
“Last year RussNeft proved a most active and aggressive player in the fuel and energy sector; in two years and a half it managed to consolidate practically all the independent oil producing assets. Specifically, last year it bought Aganneftegeologia, Yukos share in a joint venture with Hungarian MOL Zapadno-Malobalykskoye, Tomskaya Neft ZAO, UNNK OAO, allowing it to raise its oil production almost to 20 million tons of oil and gas equivalent…”
Semyon Vainshtock, President of AK Transneft OAO:
“If two years ago someone had told me that there would appear a company producing 15 million tons a year, I would’ve considered him not a very clever person. But RussNeft shows such high rate of growth. And at that with no scandals, at small oilfields and in a civilized manner. It buys out companies, introduces advanced management and keeps working…”
Andrey Ardeyev, head of customer service at Fora-Capital:
“Rapid development of RussNeft capable of joining the oil elite in the nearest future is worth ranking it among the most active companies of the oil and gas sector…”
Alexander Tutushkin, a correspondent of the Vedomosti:
“It is a good example and the only one so far showing that a sound oil company can be created starting from zero…”
Dmitry Mangilev, an analyst of Prospekt:
“RussNeft is a potential blue chip whose development suggests possibility of its entering the market shortly…”
Vladimir Milov, President of the Institute of Energy Policy:
“One can’t help observing the activity of RussNeft in consolidating small producing assets. If such policy is aimed at positive development of unfunded assets this could be only welcomed…”
Sekret Firmy Magazine:
“RussNeft is assumed to be one of the most dynamically developing oil companies; its production growth within a year has come to more than 86%. Moreover, this private company may be the only one among the first ten leaders not supported by the government…”
Ekaterina Derbilova, Irina Reznik, Tatiana Yegorova of the Vedomosti:
“RussNeft can be called the most aggressive company. In 2005 it bought seven small oil producers having stepped up its annual oil output from 10 to 16.5 million tons. Furthermore RussNeft assets were supplemented with two oil refineries and nearly 300 gas-filling stations and now it has more retail outlets in the metropolitan area than any other company. The other day Gutseriev said that by the end of 2006 RussNeft would produce 25 million tons of crude and in future all 100 million tons…”
Neft&Kapital Magazine:
“According to the results of nine months of 2005, the rapid growth of RussNeft resulted in the second place taken among other Russian companies in the growth of oil production. The company has increased its production volumes by 160% up to 13 million tons. Yuganskneftegaz has turned out to be the first on the list though.
It is evident that these companies adopt different policies. State-run Rosneft counts on acquisition of big assets, while its ‘private namesake’ having no such lobbying possibilities prefers to buy small and medium producers including those facing charges on violation of license agreements to be subsequently readjusted…”
The Business:
“RussNeft is growing into the role of Ruissia’s political representative at the international oil market. The company active in buying interior assets for the last years has been approved by the government as a candidate for acquiring Yukos stake at Slovakian company Transpetrol…
The RF government supports RussNeft as a candidate for buying Yukos stake at Slovakian pipeline company Transpetrol, said yesterday Deputy Economic Development Minister Andrei Sharonov. A respective letter signed by Economic Development Minister German Greff has already been sent to the government of Slovakia…”

Within a year the Company has been able to increase the production in more than three times. In the nearest future it is planned to extract 10 million tons... The Company is planning to do IPO, that may become one of the most successful in Russia."

Dmitry Manguiev, analyst, PROSPEKT , Investment Company
"The first place in our version was taken by RussNeft of Mikhail Gutseriev. At the expense of new acquisitions this Company was able to increase its crude oil production by 41 % by the end of the year. Actually we are talking about one more major player at the market in question."
Dmitry Logunov, Deloitte Partner:
"In 2004 RussNeft continued to develop acquiring more and more productive assets. The Company is not yet in the position to be able to compete with major vertically integrated oil companies of Russia, however its pace of development impresses".
Mikhail Zak, manager, analyst section, VELES KAPITAL, Share Holding Company
"RussNeft is a break-through in oil industry. For the last year M. Gutseriev was able to create one of the biggest companies in the industry whose export is already compatible with Bashneft deliveries".

" RussNeft is not a big company, but it has attracted attention this year... RussNeft has done a number of good purchases of assets and has turned into a conspicuous player".
