The schoolchildren came to their senses...
«Belkamneft» invests in brain capital

In the capital town of Udmurtia, in the Centre of creative work for children and teenagers  there was held the first audition of the IV mind games open championship among children. For the fourth year in succession the primary sponsor of the contest becomes OAO "Belkamneft".
Izhevsk championship is a classical picture of the famous game "What? Where? When?", where for the right answer is given not more than one minute. For the opening of the IV championship there gathered 66 teams. Geographically they mainly represented the capital of Udmurtia. However two teams were delegated by the permanent participant of Izhevsk championships - Chaykovsky town.
Five more teams defended honor of the Kambarsky district and Karakulinsky district. Moreover, many of the countrymen arrived not only from the country towns, but also from the township Kamskoye and village Cheganda. In the end of September they won regional tournaments, also being organized by OAO "Belkamneft", and got an opportunity to participate in the open championship of "What? Where? When?".
- For our company the support of the intellectual games for schoolchildren is an investment into the future, - says Yury Fedorov, the General Director of OAO "Belkamneft". - I'm glad that about 400 schoolchildren could participate and take a stab at this contest. And looking at the light in the eyes of the children, at their lively discussions and emotional reaction, one understands that we're bringing up a new generation of clever, honest, ambitious and energetic people. I'm sure, that among these children there are future professionals of our enterprise.
It's interesting to mention, that children from villages don't take a back seat, while competing with children from towns. Among top ten players of the first Izhevsk tournament there were children from the Kambarsky district and Karakulinsky district.
The game "What? Where? When?" is unlike the School Olympiad. It develops ability to think unconventionally, to listen to and to hear partners. It's not a solve of a cross-word puzzle, but a search of new versions and a dilemma in choosing the only true variant.
- An excellent game, serious-minded competitors, interesting and entertaining questions, - says with a smile Alexander Smolnikov from the Kamsk secondary school.
- I also liked the game: questions are exciting, - Irina Eseinova associates herself with her classmate. - The team of our school participated in the game for the first time. We didn't even expect to see so many teams, and we're happy, that we played with success.
In the first audition of the IV mind games open championship among children of Izhevsk there won the team "Strannye Listya" from Izhevsk natural-humanitarian lyceum ¹ 30. In the present academic year there will be held five tournaments, and the winner will get an opportunity to participate in the "What? Where? When?" championship of Russia.
Today we can often hear the words, that our youth is bad. But it's a big mistake. Come at least once at our club of intellectual games, and you can see, that our youth is brilliant: clear heads with lively, brisk and clever eyes.
